The Government of Zambia has demonstrated its commitment to education by providing free schooling for the first 12 years and introducing student loans and bursaries for tertiary education in public universities. However, with Zambia’s rapidly growing youth population, government resources alone remain insufficient to meet the increasing demand for higher education.
To help bridge this gap, Hygeia Global University College, an international institution headquartered in India with affiliations in Canada and Belgium, is stepping in. The university will officially open its doors to Zambian students in January 2026, at its newly established campus in the Maposa area of Luanshya District, Copperbelt Province.
As part of its commitment to Zambia, Hygeia Global University College has entered into a strategic partnership with the Justina Mutale Foundation to promote equitable access to higher education.
200 Scholarships for Zambian Students
Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two institutions, Hygeia Global University College has pledged to offer 200 scholarships to academically talented but financially disadvantaged Zambian students.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Dr. Devendra Singh, Director and Chairperson of Hygeia Global University, stated:
“We are delighted to formalize this partnership with the Justina Mutale Foundation, as it reflects our shared commitment to empowering communities through education, innovation, and global collaboration. This MoU lays the foundation for impactful initiatives that will not only benefit students but also contribute to sustainable development and the advancement of knowledge across borders.”
The MoU was signed on behalf of Hygeia Global University College by Dr. Ignatius Chingangu, Principal, and by Dr. Justina Mutale, Founder and President of the Justina Mutale Foundation, on behalf of the Foundation.
